At Buell Automatics we have a strong network and relationships with many outside vendors to help fulfill the secondary requirements of your part order. We can arrange the service you need with our vendors and save you the trouble of managing the process yourself. Some of the outside processes we can arrange and quote include:
Heat Treating
It makes the product tougher, improving its longevity and making it more impact-resistant. The overall goal is to harden the metal for better wear resistance.
Plating
Barrel plating is an electroplating method for simultaneously plating high-volume smaller metal objects, parts, and components. The process uses a barrel-shaped cage where the parts are placed before the chemical bath.
Rack plating is done for brittle and large complex parts that are difficult to plate with different techniques. The material is mounted on a fixture, which will then be immersed in a chemical bath
Etching
A printing method using acid to make prints on metal products. It’s also used to create logos and intricate designs, enhancing the product’s aesthetic components while enhancing identification. Etching also offers a permanent finish that will not fade over time, making it an excellent option for demanding industrial applications
Grinding
Machining process where a grinder or a grinding wheel is used to remove material from a product or workpiece. It’s mainly used to finish the material and improve its surface quality. At the same time, it can effectively enhance its shape and dimension.
De-Burring
A machining process that enhances the final quality of the product by removing raised edges and unwanted pieces of material, known as burrs, left by the initial machining processes. Burrs are created from shearing, bending, cutting, piercing, and compressing materials.
Passivation
Passivation is a chemical process that removes free iron from the surface of stainless steel. At Buell Automatics, we perform the service in-house for our customers’.
Benefits of Passivation
It removes surface contaminants left by previous machining operations.
It removes black marks produced by previous forging and forming operations.
It removes heat tint generated by previous welding operations.
Stainless only should be put in the tanks, not all steel, will contaminate the bath.
Standards & Compliance
The team at Buell Automatics, can passivate components to the ASTM A967 standard.
We also, offer outsourced passivation services, that meet AMS 2700 and ASTM A380 standards.
